Laura Welch failed to stop her Chevy sedan at a stop sign and smashed into a Corvair being driven by a school classmate, Michael Douglas, who was also 17. Michael Douglas’s father was following him at the time and saw his son get killed right before his very eyes. Both cars were going about 50 miles per hour when Laural Welch hit Micheal Douglas, broadside in his Corvair. I have included a picture of the car so you will know that Corvairs were not big cars and were not made like tanks, like most cars, were at that time.
