Badrinath displayed good temperament at a moment when three top Indian batsmen were returned to dressing room.
His 136 runs partnership with Sehwag was crucial for India's charge in reply to mammoth first innings 558 total of visitors.
Badrinath's maiden half century was studded with seven brilliant boundaries.
He was unbeaten for 56 with skipper Dhoni (6) at tea break.
